2023
April was busy for Troop 11! We enjoyed a local campout with some competitive games of wiffleball, ice cream, fire safety, campfires, songs, and skits, picked up an unbelievable amount of trash along scenic roads in Town, helped paint small art for an Eagle Scout Project, several scouts earned the Engineering Merit Badge with Harley Davidson, worked on more First Aid, we had a visit from a Troop 4 Eagle Scout who shared information about NYLT and other scout leadership opportunities, and saw the incredible progress of a recent Eagle Scout project as it came into bloom!
A fun fall weekend in the western part of the state brought a full day of adventure, amazing cooking, beautiful sunrises, and great hiking. We are blessed to live in New England!
Troop 11 enjoyed a great day in February with a hike at Veteran's Freedom Park, followed by a camp in and Iron Chef Chili Competition! These scouts can cook!!
Thank you Yawgoog Scout Reservation for a great winter camping spot! The cabin was lovely and the perfect setting for our Iron Chef competition! The staff and volunteers all had that scouting spirit! Rifle shooting and the beautiful hike around the lake were the perfect activities for an overcast day! We ended the weekend with some geocaching!
Troop 11 had the opportunity to help assist the younger cub scouts in town. The day included helping scouts make their dinner, showing how to build a fire, and a fun campfire full of skits and songs with some of the other troops!
2022
We're off to explore the Freedom Trail in Boston with a private guided tour, take in a visit to the NE Aquarium, a movie at the Simons Theatre at the Aquarium, and "camp in" in one of the office buildings in the Seaport (with fabulous views of the Harbor!). We will work on a merit badge of the girls choosing in a Board Room, stay overnight there, and in the morning, head out for a Skyline Hike in the Blue Hills!
Troop 11 continues to grow and help to develop more skilled leaders after a fun weekend of introduction to leadership skills (ILST) training and an incredibly productive PLC to close out the summer and kick off the fall season! Thank you to our elected and appointed leaders for your time, your energy, your passion and your skills!! We are all looking forward to an incredible year!!
We were blessed with incredible weather, breathtaking views & amazing scouts this weekend for our biking and hiking adventure on the Cape!
Base Camp
After some solid preparation, Troop 11 tackled a 15.6 mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail this weekend! 3 summits, over 4,000 ft. in elevation gain, plenty of sore legs, 3 days hiking, 2 nights camping, celebrated a birthday with cupcakes on day 2, shared a fantastic campfire with the incredible Troop 301 from Katonah, NY Greater Hudson Valley Council, BSA, and had the pleasure of hiking and camping with thru hiker, Samantha Fairfield (AKA: Mama Saurus)! An amazing weekend with a truly remarkable group of dedicated and strong young women!! Thank you to the siblings from Troop 4 who joined us for the fun!!
Troop 11 spent the past week on horseback, riding over 50 miles along the Continental Divide in the beautiful mountains of Montana, and providing over 50 hours of service while we visited Big Sky country. The sunrises and sunsets were like no other, the stars were within reach. Wildlife was spectacular and abundant....deer, elk, mama and cub black bears, a grizzly bear, moose, bald eagles, porcupines and coyote crossed our paths and astounded us with their beauty as we gave thanks for sharing their incredible habitat with us. This amazing group of girls graced us with their grit, humor, horsemanship, teamwork, hard work and resilience! Below are just a few shots of our amazing week...thank you to all who helped to provide this incredible opportunity for our youth to see our great country!
